Definition
An animal a resident relies upon by reason of disability, governed by law, not by this standard, and exempt from its pet terms.
Part of the Roch Dog Residence Standard (RDRS-01) · Published by Roch Dog
A dog, or other animal, that a resident relies upon by reason of disability, as recognised by applicable law.
These animals are governed by law, not by this standard. Nothing here alters their rights, and the standard's pet terms, including any charge, breed, or size limit, do not apply to them.
Roch Interpretation
Assistance and service animals sit outside the standard's pet terms entirely. The law governs them, no charge, breed, or size limit applies, and nothing here cuts their rights.
Examples
Compliant
A resident's service dog is admitted with no pet charge and no breed or size limit, in line with the law.
Not compliant
A provider applies its pet deposit and a size cap to a recognised assistance dog.
