Any charge a resident is asked to pay because they keep a dog. It is the umbrella for four sub-types: a damage deposit, pet rent, a non-refundable fee, and a penalty.
Every dog-related charge must be disclosed before the point of commitment and comply with applicable law, including any local cap.
Roch Interpretation
This is the umbrella term for any money asked for because of a dog. Whatever it is called, it has to be disclosed up front and stay within the law.
Examples
Compliant
Every dog-related charge, deposit, pet rent, and any fee, is listed in full before the tenant commits.
Not compliant
A 'dog admin charge' is sprung on the resident at move-in and was never disclosed beforehand.
