Assessments draw on five categories of evidence.
Booking and pre booking review: the hotel's direct booking flow and pre booking materials are checked for a dog policy, fee disclosure, and weight or size statements. If the hotel has no written dog policy available before booking, whether published or supplied in writing on request, R1 fails.
Policy page capture: the full dog policy is reviewed for completeness, consistency, and non discretionary language. Conditional statements, staff discretion clauses, and missing fee disclosures are flagged.
Pre arrival communication: where available, confirmation emails and pre arrival instructions are reviewed to check whether the dog policy is consistent with what the guest receives after booking.
Onsite and remote inspection: accommodations are inspected onsite and remotely on a regular basis to confirm that documented policy matches operational practice.
Direct staff verification: the dog policy and how it is applied are verified directly with the accommodation's concierge, front desk, housekeeping, and reservations teams.
